Invitation to join the Winter Haiku 2006 blog

(Newly edited)
Hello friends,

Although I have not been able to participate as much as I would have liked lately, I have thoroughly enjoyed these seasonal blogs (thanks to Matt and Alison who started the activity with the ukku Spring haiku blog, Dustin for the Summer blog, Gerald and Andrew for the Autumn blog).

I have exchanged emails with Gerald and Paul Mena, and I am delighted to say that Paul has agreed to co-manage the Winter Haiku 2006 blog with me. It will run from the 1st of November 2006 to the 31st of January 2007. Please send an email to me: sbhullar at thehaikupoet.com or paul at haikupoet.com if you would like to join in, and an invitation will be issued. Fuller guidelines and a welcome message will be posted at the blog site: http://winterhaiku06.blogspot.com shortly (we have had to change the blog address to this new one, NOT the one posted earlier today, as that was set up as Blogger Beta, which requires members to use Google accounts to log in, and not all members have these).

We will be happy to include links to your weblog or homepage, so don't forget to send these to us.

We look forward to seeing you there! :)

Best,
Sangeet

falling in love

falling in love
with the autumn leaves,
watching them drop,
leaving me, yet again,
to face winter alone

A bad goblin
He stares at me in the eye
Sniffing my fear

a witchcraft
she put a spell on me
destroying my heart

Many jacks
Standing along the graveyard
Silently laughing

Another Autumn Night

Another Autumn Night

There were no stars; no moonlight in the sky, just a chilly cold breeze slapped my face. Leaves were spreading everywhere on the sidewalk ground. It was after Halloween party. I have to say goodbye to my friends. I went on the bus and the radio was playing my favorite songs. So while on the road, I was bouncing my head and singing to myself.

When I got home, I kept thinking those great nights were best nights of my life. Because I smiled and laugh, bringing wonderful memories to my bedroom.

Haiku:

He laughs
In the chilly wind
My little humor?..

On the road
I watched the headlights
Reaching home

After party
I?m changing the
Time to darkness

always wistful - she
gathers longing like forest floors
collect autumn leaves
leaves
colour of her hair once
running through them

overnight freeze
noon sunshine and perfect blue
autumn in the desert
frost melting
in early morning sun
hunting boots
left outside overnight
still mud-caked and frozen

First autumn storm

Wind playing rough
a tornado of leaves
sweeps across the yard
mind cleared by the wind
winter ahead calmly waiting.

Get Ready

cold, thin moon hangs in possibility
as work of last leaves race this day
winter touching hands
unmittened

Who'll do winter

These last couple of months seem to have flown by.

Alison & Matt started off the first Spring blog and then Dustin organised a Summer blog. Andrew and I are responsible for the running of this Autumn Blog.

This blog will close to contributions on October 31st -- it will remain visible and open to comments.

Who is going to volunteer to oversee a Winter blog?
